We are so pleased to report that the first promotional event for Music and Kids was a great success! On March 10 and 11, the first Jr Star Search Competition took place at the Almond Blossom Festival in George Lane Park in Quartz Hill, CA.
We were thrilled to have 26 talented student performers ages 10-18 compete in a karaoke-style singing competition. The judges awarded golden tickets (instant win) to two competitors who delivered exceptional performances. A total of 10 students, including the 2 golden ticket winners, were selected as winners of Prize Level Scholarships, which means they will receive 6 months of weekly one-on-one music lessons fully funded by Music and Kids! The remaining 16 students received Standard Level Scholarships, which means they will receive 3 months of lessons through a waiting list process as the program receives more funding. Our judges included Trevor Hibbert of Adelman Broadcasting, Walker Gibson (Education Director for Music and Kids) and our celebrity judge, Carnie Wilson of Wilson Phillips and Love Bites by Carnie®.
