Child safety network
In celebration of the Child Safety Networks 30th anniversary the organization is joining forces with Music and Kids. Music and Kids Singers, students from right here in the Antelope Valley, will perform at multiple events throughout Southern California in 2019, where CSN will be introducing the new Safer Together app and touring the Country Music Truck to garner more star power and collect more signatures for the project.
In partnership with the City of Palmdale, Music and Kids is working to provide one-on-one music education with paid, qualified instructors to students in Palmdale. Through this partnership, Music and Kids administers all music programs at the City of Palmdale’s Gabriel’s House.
Music and Kids will be the engine that will provide qualified instructors to develop and implement arts-related activities through our Gabriel’s House program. -- Mike Miller, Palmdale’s Director of Neighborhood Services
For more than five years, Gabriel’s House has provided free musical instruments, equipment and instruction to youth ages 8 to 18, thanks to financial donations by groups such the Warnack Foundation and the AV Business Expo. Instructors have volunteered their time.
Under the new partnership, Music and Kids will take the lead in providing quality instruction and programming at no charge to the participating youth.
Especially for music lessons where individualizing the lesson is so important, having students learning in a one-on-one environment with a paid, qualified instructor provides a much more stable program for both the students and the teachers.
-- Chuck Murphy, singer-songwriter, recording artist, and founder of Music and Kids
Fundraising efforts are underway to provide adequate staffing to meet the needs and provide learning opportunities for the students. Donations for Gabriel’s House programming may be made at www.musicandkids.org.
In 2020, the Gabriel’s House program will move from the Neighborhood House location on 6th St. East to its new location at Courson Arts Colony East, located at 939 East Avenue Q-12 in Palmdale.
Fundraising for the Gabriel’s House music programs will be conducted and administered by Music and Kids. Donations to Music and Kids can be designated for the general fund, to specifically help students in the City of Palmdale, or to help students in any region being serviced by Music and Kids. Please note your wishes when making your donation or pledge.

ANNOUNCING THE JOE ESPARZA SCHOLARSHIP FUND AND OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH
HOPE FOR HEROES
Great news! Music and Kids has formed a partnership with Hope For Heroes to create the Joe Esparza Scholarship Fund!
Who is Joe Esparza?
Joe was a son, a father and a husband. He was a musician and a big part of our Lancaster community, and he worked for and supported Hope for Heroes and Vets for Veterans. He was well known among first responders and veterans in the Antelope Valley, and the youth in the Antelope Valley knew him well because his son, Max, was just one of the many young kids he mentored.
When he asked Chuck Murphy to perform at a Vets for Veteran event, that was the beginning of Chuck getting to know Joe. Chuck quickly learned that Joe was the kind of man that gave back and he did just that until his passing in 2019. There are many people in the Antelope Valley that knew Joe and miss him, but few will miss him the way his 20-year-old son will miss him.
Max is an accomplished singer-songwriter with a heart of gold, and he is working hard to fill his father’s shoes without losing himself in the mix. We hope that Music and Kids can help in keeping his father's legacy alive by creating a scholarship fund in Joe’s name.
The Joe Esparza Scholarship Fund
This scholarship fund would be used to fund free music lessons for the children of first responders in the Antelope Valley through programs offered by Music and Kids and Gabriel’s House in Palmdale. CA. Max, Chuck Murphy and the students of Music and Kids and Gabriel’s House will be doing both small and large fundraisers all year long and any other local musicians that would like to help us can join us.
