Flagship Program
The Music and Kids Flagship Program is focused on children from ages 8 to 18 who come from under-served communities in the Antelope Valley.
Through our one-on-one learning program, each student will have the opportunity to pick an instrument they wish to learn and the type of music they would like to perform. That student will receive a one-hour lesson per week. Once the student is proficient in playing their instrument, they will join our performance group.
At Music and Kids, we don't just teach our students how to play a song, we teach them music theory. They learn to understand the math behind the music allowing them to navigate any instrument or song. As our students grow, some enjoy playing their instrument freestyle, and others start learning show tunes from Broadway. Research has shown that piano students understand mathematical and scientific concepts quicker and performed 34% higher on tests measuring proportional reasoning such as fractions, proportions, ratios, and thinking in time and space. Our hope is that music may always play a part in our student's life even beyond out teachings. Or, it may just be the beginning of something larger.
Music and Kids build character, responsibility, and strength through music.
